Graffiti South Africa Book: Cape Town Launch

The Graffiti South Africa book launch in Cape Town takes place from 29-31 January, with thanks to our hosts Side Street Studios.

Thursday, 29 January - Book launch at Space Between Gallery

The book launch coincides with the launch of the Space Between Gallery and Studio and the Urban A group exhibition:

Space Between (old Lovell Gallery) is conveniently located upstairs at 139 Albert Road, Woodstock, and is closely associated with Side Street Studios across the road and The Arcade building a few meters away.

The Urban A exhibition features work by urban and street artists Nardstar*, Ariel23, Ninjabreadboy, Skullboy, Fersyndicate, Steve ‘Crack’, Chris Auret, Jack Fox and r1.

Friday, 30 January - Street Art Tour in Westridge

About the tour:
Westridge is considered one of the graffiti hubs and is revered as the birthplace of graffiti in South Africa. There is a focus on the area and sub-city, Mitchells Plain, as well as info on the culture and history of the community.

Saturday, 31 January - Book Signing, Live Graffiti and Street Art Tour in Woodstock

Those attending the street art tour must meet here around 11/11.30am in order to embark by 12pm. You will get a chance to see some artists in action and witness some of the progressions of the pieces when the tour makes full circle.

About the tour:
Woodstock is a diverse place that features some of the best local graffiti and street art works, plus an influx of work by international visitors. We also talk about the area, the effects of gentrification and where it may be headed.
